A49 Kimbolton to Eaton Hill Carriageway Resurfacing
A49 Kimbolton to Eaton Hill Carriageway Resurfacing
The Project
The scheme was located on the A49 between the roundabout near Leominster, Herefordshire (junction with A44) in a northerly direction for a distance of approximately 2km. The works started on 8th March 2010 and was completed on 29th April 2010.
What did we do?
The resurfacing works involved replacing the worn out surface with new surfacing material, and associated road markings. The scheme also involved some signing and drainage works.
Why did we need this work?
The existing carriageway surface showed signs of failure and had reached the end of its serviceable life. It had become necessary to re-surface the carriageway to keep it in a safe and usable condition for the road users.
What would happen if we do not do this work?
There would be a need to carry out regular and unplanned patching work to keep the running surface in a safe condition for the road users with the associated traffic delay. If this re-surfacing of the carriageway was not carried out, the carriageway would deteriorate further and would cost more at a later date.
