The Project

A section of the A40 at Boxbush was subject to standing water and seasonal flooding. Surveys have identified water bypassing existing culverts onto carriageway and seepage from the embankment onto the carriageway. The existing drainage was also inadequate. Two projects were undertaken in order to alleviate flooding. These comprised of repair of the existing culvert and re-profiling of the adjoining water courses, plus cleaning, repair and upgrading of the existing drainage system. This included gully replacement, new filter drains and new carrier drains.

These projects were originally planned for delivery in 2010, however they have been brought forward for to coincide with urgent repairs by Severn Trent Water in the same area, the works were completed on 12 December 2009.
