The Project

This was an improvement scheme at Skew Bridge in Salisbury, which included work to adapt the footway on the northern and southern sides of Skew Bridge, to both shared cycle and pedestrian use. At the same time the Pelican crossing was converted into a Toucan crossing, to allow pedestrians and cycle users to cross in the same location. High friction surfacing was applied on both approaches to the new Toucan crossing and also from Skew Bridge to Roman Road to improve skid resistance. Works also included the installation of new kerbing and tactile paving.

In order to reduce disruption and minimise delays to the travelling public, the majority of the activities took place during off peak daytime hours, however the resurfacing and application of anti-skid was carried out overnight. The scheme was completed on 11th November 2009.
