A21 Sevenoaks Bypass Weather Station
The Project
The Highways Agency has installed a new weather station on the A21 Sevenoaks Bypass as part of its Winter Maintenance programme. Work started Monday 12 October and took a week to complete.
Using the latest infrared technology, the weather station sits above the roadside, and is able to constantly monitor weather conditions on the road.
By analysing temperature and levels of snow, ice, and slush on the ground it will enable preventative measures such as salting to be carried out at the earliest opportunity in order to minimise disruption to the road user.
