The Project

Where

The scheme is located on the M6 Junction 7 Southbound carriageway between Queslett Road and Beeches Road Underbridges.

When

The works started on  15 November 2009 and were completed on 11 December 2009.

What did we do?

The re-surfacing works involved inlaying the existing carriageway with varying depths of new surfacing materials together with associated kerbing work and re-setting of manholes and gulleys.

The opportunity was also taken to carry out remedial work to the bridge joints on both structures.

Why did we need to do this work?

The existing carriageway surface was showing signs of failure and has reached the end of its serviceable life. It has needed numerous areas of patching to keep it in a safe and usable condition for the road user.

Future Work

This work is part of a series of schemes which will be happening on the M6 in the future, from Junction 5 to Junction 16, as preparation for the implementation of Hard Shoulder running.
