A1 Eaton Socon Bypass Resurfacing
A1 Eaton Socon Bypass Resurfacing
The Project
Major roadworks on the A1 Eaton Socon Bypass started on Friday 4 September 2009 and completed shortly before Christmas 2009.
The work involved repairs to and resurfacing of a three mile stretch of the A1 from the A428 Wyboston Junction to Hail Bridge, just to the north of the B645 junction at Hail Weston. Both the north and southbound carriageways were resurfaced with a low noise surfacing material. At the same time, the opportunity was taken to carry out drainage works, to replace the safety fencing and to install new parapets on the bridges which pass under the A1.
The low noise surfacing material used will ensure that those using the A1 experience a quieter and safer journey and that those living close to the trunk road should also benefit from the quieter road surface.
