The Project
New electronic message signs have been installed on the M5 near Taunton and Tiverton to give drivers more reliable journey times and help to ensure better safety and improved traffic flows.
The new signs give drivers real time advance warning of road conditions ahead, including information about accidents, queues, delays and temporary speed limits.
The installation of the signs started from June 2009 on the M5 at junction 25 and junction 27 north bound, these signs were completed at the end of March 2010. In addition to the signs, the work required additional infrastructure including roadside equipment cabinets and traffic detector loops buried in the carriageway.
