A49 Bayston Hill
The Project
Where
The scheme is located on the A49 immediately south of the village of Bayston Hill
When
The works started on the 18 May 2009 and lasted for approximately 5 weeks.
What did we do ?
The re-surfacing works involved planing out berween 40mm and 150mm of the existing surfacing and replacing with new for a distance of 1.55km.
The work also included a small improvement scheme to the Condover turn.
Why did we need to do this work ?
The existing carriageway showed signs of deterioration through heavy surface crazing and deformation. It has required numerous areas of patching to keep it in a safe and serviceable condition for the road user.
Work at the Condover turn was identified as part of the Shrewsbury to Craven Arms Right turn study undertaken for the Highways Agency.
