The Project

A scheme improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists at the Campbell Road junction with the A500 at Sideway, Stoke on Trent, finished on Monday 1st June 2009 after 6 weeks of works.

The scheme provided a new Toucan crossing across the A500 northbound on slip at its junction with Campbell Road together with anti skid surfacing and improvements to signs, lighting and road markings.

Work took place mainly during daytime hours Mondays to Friday from 9.30am to 4pm and utilised alternate closures of the slip road and A5006 east bound at the slip road junction. Well signed local diversion routes were operational during these closures. The antiskid surfacing work took place during 4 overnight periods with convoy control of traffic through the works area.
