Photographs
This picture and the one above shows the bridleway running past the pond which will be used for construction traffic and will be temporarily closed for public use for reasons of public safety. Bridleway diversion notices will be put up at relevant places.
This photograph shows the green Herptile fencing which is erected in advance of the works; it is designed to keep protected species away from the works area.
This photograph shows the balancing pond, it is heavily silted up and overgrown with reeds. The pond will be dredged later in 2009 and two thirds of the reeds will be removed.
At the moment the pond will not function as intended because the inlet and outlet pipes are too close together (they are both situated behind the photographer) and the run off water does not get to the area of the pond shown on the photograph. It is effectively bypassed and therefore cannot help clean the water discharging into the Redhill Brook.
As part of this scheme the inlet pipe will be moved to the area of the pond on the top left of the photograph (where you see the green herptile fencing) and the outlet pipe will stay in a similar postion to where it is at the moment.
