Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ M1 J1-2 Landscaping

Why did you fell the trees?

Whilst a few trees which have died or become unstable will need to be removed for safety reasons, the majority of the conifers (Leylandii) will just have their tops removed.

Why are you only taking the tops off?

Topping the conifers should encourage sideways growth and stabilise the trees so that they can be retained in the short term.  The conifers will need to be removed at a later date on the grounds of safety as topping them cannot achieve long term stability.

Have you planted anything in its place?

The topped trees will be enhanced by under planting with a dense belt of native and ornamental shrubs that will provide additional screening by the time the remaining conifers have to be removed.

How long will it be before you cut down the conifers that are being topped?

The topped conifers will be monitored by our environmental team and will be removed once the replacement planting has matured or in the event that they are judged to becoming unstable.
