General

The weather has again been good to us over the last few weeks and the works are progressing well.  The areas where that have seen the most movement are the new Lady Lane Bridge and the new A419 carriageway between the bridges at Chapel Farm and Widhill parallel to Blunsdon Hill.

Lady Lane Area

At Lady Lane we have continued laying the tarmac and have now completed the final road surface.  We have installed the lighting and pedestrian guard railing and have started to install the signs and safety fence.  Once these are complete the white lines will be laid and traffic management will be added to enable us to divert the current Lady Lane traffic over the bridge.  This will involve a temporary signalised junction at the connection between the new Lady Lane and the existing A419.

Blunsdon Hill

The new Blunsdon Hill section between the Chapel Farm and Widhill has moved along in the past month with the tarmac foundations being laid over the subbase on both the Northbound and Southbound carriageways.  The verges and embankment have been topsoiled with the filter drains in this section being finished.  The vegetation planting within this section and throughout the site has progressed well and has now ceased as the planting season finished at the end of March.

Other works

To the south of the scheme the lady lane turnpike link has progressed, capping and subbase (road foundations) have been placed, kerbs have been laid and gully pot drains installed.

To the north of the scheme works have continued on the build up of the embankment and is now at a level which has enabled us to install the drainage.  This drainage links into the balancing pond to the North which has now been extended across the old Chapel Farm access road.
