The Project

Our Problem

The anti-clockwise exit bridge taking traffic towards the M56 carries around 30000 vehicles a day.  The clockwise exit bridge carrying traffic heading towards Manchester carries around 8000 vehicles a day.

The number and weight of vehicles using these bridges has increased since these bridges were designed and built so we needed to improve them.

Our Solution

Both bridges have undergone significant engineering work to enable them to carry all types of vehicles, from motorbikes to the heaviest lorries, now and into the future.

When are we doing the work?

Work started on 7th July 2008 and was completed in March 2009.
