A27 / A2270 Junction Widening at Polegate
The Project
Works to widen the existing carriageway to extend the length of the existing free flow lanes through the junction with the A27 and A2270 in Polegate, East Sussex, began on Monday 4 February 2007.
The works on the A2270 were carried out between 7.30am and 6.00pm Mondays to Fridays. During these times there were lane closures restricted to off peak hours, except when there were open earthworks excavations adjacent to the existing carriageway.
The Highways Agency made good progress with junction improvements on the A27 / A2270 near Polegate, West Sussex and announced that a planned closure of the A27 for the weekend Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 March 2007 was no longer needed.
Work on the scheme continued, but was completed using temporary lane closures rather than closing the road completely.
The work was carried out in order to relieve congestion on this part of the A27.
