The Project

Works to install the barrier started on Tuesday 09 September 2008 and lasted 2 weeks. Work was carried out during the daytime between 08:00hrs and 18:00hrs and at night between 20:00hrs and 06:00hrs.

The barrier guard, narrow lanes and 40mph speed limit remained in place whilst the works took place for the safety of road users and the workforce. It was also necessary to close lane one of the eastbound carriageway for two nights during the works.

At the Highways Agency, we work towards safe roads, reliable journeys and informed travellers. To further improve safety on the A27 at Tangmere, we have built a footbridge to provide a crossing for pedestrians and cyclists between Tangmere and Boxgrove.

Work started on Monday 18 February 2008 and  lasted for four months.
