The Project

This section of the A46 north of Bath runs along an area of steep hill side and there was a danger of land slip which could damage the road. To stabilise the slope, an 80m bore piled retaining wall was installed on the down slope to prevent slippage occurring.

The project was successfully completed in August 2007. Piling work was carried out during two weeks of overnight closures to avoid disruption to road users. While the road was closed, additional drainage repairs and resurfacing work was also carried out.
