Stakeholder Communications

We already talk regularly with our stakeholders. We do this through a range of communication channels to maintain our dialogue, but also to reinforce the message that we are involved in influencing travel behaviour because we believe it can play a key role in reducing congestion.

Some of our strategic partners include:

• Government Offices - deliver policy in the regions, implement cross cutting initiatives and advise Departments on successful strategies for introducing new measures;
• Local Highway Authorities - key stakeholders in the advancement of travel plan initiatives;
• Regional Development Agencies - their aim, through partnerships, is to improve regional infrastructure to support business competitiveness and regeneration;
• Department for Transport's Sustainable Travel Initiatives Branch - Sponsor of travel plans;
• National Travelwise Association - A network of local authorities, health authorities and public transport executives working to promote healthy and sustainable transport;
• Association for Commuter Transport - provides support to organisations needing to reduce the number of employees and visitors driving their cars onto site through the introduction of travel plans;
• Department of Trade and Industry and the Department for Transport - promoting teleworking;
• Sustrans - Sustainable transport charity working on practical projects to reduce journeys made by cars and the effects of congestion. Work includes safe routes to schools, safe routes to stations, green corridors, Travelsmart and personalised travel packages; and
• Passenger Transport Executives - provide services and facilities which the market does not provide in large conurbations.
