Business Directorates

Traffic Management

Traffic Management brings together all Network Operator roles (7 Regional Control Centres, the National Traffic Control Centre and a number of support functions including the Traffic Learning Centre) to form one cohesive unit.

The directorate is responsible for the real time management of traffic on the Strategic Road Network through on road and control centre traffic officers, coordination of MAC incident support units, regional and strategic sign setting, traffic information provision including radio, internet and media, liaison with emergency services.

Traffic Management Directorate works along side Network Delivery & Development Directorate, effectively staffing and operating the fixed and IS/technology based infrastructure provided and maintained by Network Delivery and Development.
