The Highways Agency is calling on road users to help tackle roadside litter on England's motorways and major A roads.

Road users are advised that the M1 will be closed in both directions between the entry and exit slip roads at junction 19 from 9.00pm on Tuesday 28 February until 6.00am the following morning.

Highways Agency awards first 'Asset Support Contract' for maintenance of motorways and other major roads in the South West

On 27 February, the Highways Agency awarded the first of its new Asset Support Contracts (ASC) to an Atkins Skanska joint venture, for maintaining and improving the network of motorways and major 'A' roads in the South West. The contract will cover the Agency's roads in all of the South West apart from Cornwall and parts of Devon. It will 'go live' from July 2012.
