The pay and grading structure for the Senior Civil Service
The Senior Civil Service (SCS) is made up of the Civil Service’s top managers, specialists and policy advisors and currently has around 4,000 members.
The pay and grading structure for the SCS is managed by the Cabinet Office. The Cabinet Office is responsible for providing evidence to the Senior Salaries Review Body, which provides independent advice to the government on the Senior Civil Service system.

Our pay and grading structure for staff below the Senior Civil Service
All posts below the Senior Civil Service are positioned in one of a series of pay bands. There is a pay range for each pay band with separate ranges for London and Cardiff based staff. The pay ranges in the tables below are from 1 August 2009.
