Michael Joffe enlisted in 1914 but by December that year he was described in a Board of Trade list as having "ceased to be a member of Patent Office staff". He is not commemorated on the Patent Office memorial.

He is, however, mentioned in the British Jewry Roll of Honour and is commemorated on the scroll within the Civil Service Rifles Memorial at Somerset House, London WC2.
