Advanced Composite Materials and Structures:
This Competition will build on early UK successes
and capabilities by developing the new generation of
cost-effective, high strength, lightweight and smart composite
materials and structures. Developments
should have the potential to contribute significantly to the UK
economy. Other key factors include the creation of more
lightweight materials together with cost reductions targeted at
specific sectors. New materials should also comply with
environmental legislations and be consistent with the Low Carbon economy.
