The EU Commission is reviewing the effectiveness of the regulatory framework concerning electronic communications and the UK Government is preparing its response in preparation for negotiations on revised legislation.
The Commission has delayed publication of its proposals for a revised electronic communications regulatory framework until "late October". After publication, the negotiations between the Commission and Member State governments will begin and debates will take place within the European Parliament. Details of the proposals, the EU process and DTI plans to consult UK stakeholders on the main points will be sent to everyone registered on the framework review email list soon after publication (i.e. early November).
A Roadmap of forthcoming activities is available from the Commission’s website
