Construction Industry Policy and European Regulation (CIPER)

Following an announcement in the 2004 Budget, a new Cross Government/Construction Industry Policy and Regulatory Group (CIPER) was set up, aimed at engaging the construction sector in regulatory policy development. The forum enables the industry to have an early input to emerging policy and regulatory proposals from both the UK and Europe. For Government, it provides a better appreciation of the potential impact of these regulations on the competitiveness of the industry. Industry representation consists of Umbrella Bodies, with DTI leading on behalf of Government, and other government departments participating when relevant. The group meets quarterly.
