We work to ensure that, wherever possible, the views and concerns of the UK broadcasting industries are represented in a number of areas. These include competition issues, management of the radio spectrum, legislation which affects the UK broadcasting industries, and technical standards. We maintain a productive relationship with broadcasters and platform operators.
We have a close working relationship with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
The DCMS takes the main responsibility within Government for a number of TV and radio broadcasting issues. These include: export of content; media ownership; sports rights on free-to-view television; access to television services for the hearing and sight impaired; broadcasting initiatives in the EU, the Council of Europe and other international fora; policy on public service broadcasting in the UK; management of the BBC's Charter and Agreement.
BERR and DCMS have joint responsibility for the delivery of the Digital Television Action Plan.
