Key science events for the general public include:
9 -18 March 2007 - National Science and Engineering Week
A national celebration of science, engineering and technology, featuring thousands of events open to the public. National Science and Engineering Week (formerly National Science Week) is an opportunity for people of all ages to take part in science, engineering and technology activities.
National Science and Engineering Week is endorsed and funded by the DTI and co-ordinated by the British Association for the Advancement of Science (BA). The BA has been working in partnership with the Engineering and Technology Board (ETB) to enhance the programme with the addition of around 500 engineering-focused events and to celebrate the vital contribution that engineering makes to society.
In 2007, energy and climate change was again a key focus during the week, building on the success of the Click for the Climate campaign during National Science Week 2006.
Further information can be obtained from the BA by calling 020 7019 4937.
9 - 15 September 2007 - The BA Festival of Science
The BA Festival of Science is one of the UK's biggest science festivals. Annually it attracts around 400 of the best scientists and science communicators from home and abroad who reveal the latest developments in research to a general audience, at a week long event held at a different location each September. The Festival is funded, amongst others, by the DTI.
In 2007 the Festival will take place in York, hosted by the University of York.
