Postal Services Legislation
The legislation that currently applies to the UK postal services sector predominantly constitutes the Postal Services Act 2000 and numerous Statutory Instruments that have been made under it. The 2000 Act effectively replaced the Post Office Act 1953 and most of the Post Office Act 1969, as well as relevant provisions contained within the British Telecommunications Act 1981. Please use the links below to find out more details on legislation relating to specific topic areas as indicated or to see a list of all items of UK postal services legislation that have been made since 1999.
Please be aware that the DTI does not provide any legal or professional advice
as regards interpreting legislation for individual cases, and although every
effort has been made to ensure the information contained on this website is
accurate, it does not constitute legal or professional advice.
