| 14/07/06 | UK photonics strategy seeks commercial success The UK government has reaffirmed its commitment to the photonics community with the launch of a strategic review of optics-based activity throughout the country. The Photonics Strategy Group, which carried out the review on behalf of the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI), acknowledged the strength of technical innovation in the UK and highlighted the strong growth that is predicted for photonics products worldwide, but warned that fragmentation in the commercial sector could limit the UK's ability to capitalize on those opportunities. | 04/07/05 | Grid Computing Knowledge Transfer Network Launch - 6 July 2005 The Grid Computing Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) is aimed at UK organisations from all sectors to enable them to take advantage of the significant advances being made in the grid computing field. The project will develop and maintain a web infrastructure, create a network of interested members and run a series of events aimed at sharing experience and improved understanding of the field. It is targeted at business owners, business advisers and senior IT leaders with responsibility for strategy and investment decisions. The evening will feature an outline of the plans for the Knowledge Transfer Network, a demonstration of the web infrastructure and poster displays/demonstrations from several Collaborative R&D projects in the Inter-Enterprise Computing field, sister projects to the Grid Computing KTN. |
