Help with regulations

DTI regulates company matters such as competition, fair trading, aspects of employment law and trade union affairs.

Information about regulations affecting businesses can be found on the Business Link website and from local offices.

The National Measurement System (NMS) underpins the regulatory framework for commercial activity while removing unnecessary burdens on business. It supports the foundation of accredited certification, calibration and inspection that reduces the need for UK suppliers to be assessed by each of its customers.

The Regulatory Impact Unit (RIU) works with other government departments to help ensure that regulators are fair and effective.

For guidance on trading standards, please visit the ITSA's website.
