Information for Display Organisers

 

If you are organising a firework display for the general public, read our leaflet on how to organise safe and successful firework displays.

 

If you supply or sell fireworks, you should be aware of your responsibilities and recent changes to legislation. Full details of the legislation can be found in our Retailers Guide to Selling Fireworks.

 

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Firework Safety Warning

 

You should be aware that the CAA has guidelines for organisers of major events using fireworks near airports. The guidelines are available from the CAA website

 

Only buy fireworks marked BS 7114.

Don’t drink alcohol if setting off fireworks.

Keep fireworks in a closed box. 

Follow the instructions on each firework.

Light at arm's length, using a taper.

Stand well back.

Never go near a firework that has been lit. Even if it hasn’t gone off, it could still explode.

Never put fireworks in your pocket or throw them.

Always supervise children around fireworks.

Light sparklers one at a time and wear gloves.

Never give sparklers to a child under five.

Keep pets indoors.
