Export Controls: A Guide for Business

This is the latest edition of ECO's Guide to Strategic Export Controls. We hope it will give you all the information you need on the controls that may apply to your business and sources of further information. The GUIDE gives an overview of the key aspects of the current legislation and tells you how to find out if your goods are controlled and how to apply for an export licence. It is also made available as a downloadble PDF document by following the link below:

The SUPPLEMENTARY GUIDANCE NOTES, which provide greater detail on some of the information covered in the Guide, are included in this document.
To obtain these in paper format, or any other ECO publications please contact the ECO Helpline:

phone: 020 7215 8070 (Mon-Fri, 0900-1700)
fax: 020 7215 0558
e-mail: eco.help@xnpd.dti.gov.uk

The Guide is intended to help you understand the controls on exports from the UK. It is NOT a statement of the law. Before exporting, you must refer to the legislation in force at the time. We welcome comments on the layout and contents of the Guide, which should be addressed to the ECO's Helpline.
