Europa The main multi-lingual website
of the European Union, providing up-to-date news, information
on policies, access to documents, Europa is the gateway to all
the Union's institutions. Some direct links to sites of interest
are suggested below but all these and many more are accessible
through the main Europa site.
The European Commission Multilingual
access to official documents, press releases,
The European Commission Representation in the United Kingdom
site gives details of forthcoming EU events in Britain, UK sources
of information etc.
The
Council of the European Union Multilingual site with
general information on the function and working methods of the
Council etc. as well as a newsroom with detailed press releases
for each Council meeting. Links to website of the Presidency in
office.
The European Parliament Multilingual site giving an overview
of the EP and its activities, along with the latest news, links
to reference material etc.
Eur-lex a new
service on Europa offering direct access to European law (recent
Official Journals, Commission documents, and existing legislation).
Citizens First A European Commission
programme which aims to provide people throughout the EU with
tailor-made information about their rights and opportunities within
the European Union and its Single Market. Their Dialogue with
Citizens and Business was launched in June 1998 during the UK
Presidency.
CORDIS Community Research & Development Information Service
with comprehensive information on European R&D policies and
programmes, latest R&D news and details of events throughout
Europe. Also features a map-based search to help identify funding
opportunities, projects, partners and results.
Eurostat (Statistical Office of the
European Community)
Information on how to access European statistical information,
e.g. the Comext database, which contains all the statistical data
on trade between the member states of the European Union and their
trade with approximately 300 economic partners.
