Information
Sources
By
visiting the Europa
site you can access a wide range of European information.
Europa also offers a more detailed explanation of two further
sources of EC information, accessed through this page -
CELEX and EUR-Lex.
Details
of EC Legislation may be accessed via the CELEX or
EUR-Lex websites.
CELEX
is a comprehensive and authoritative information source
on European Community Law. It offers multilingual, full-text
coverage of a wide variety of legal acts including the founding
treaties, binding and non-binding legislation, opinions
and resolutions issued by the European Union Institutions
and consultative bodies, and the case law of the Court of
Justice. The database currently holds over 200,000 records
in 11 official languages.
This
service is via a subscription cost. Details of all costs
are available from the CELEX Subscription page.
EUR-Lex
is similar to CELEX but offers EC Information free of charge.
A user registration is required to use pages from the Official
Journal. Under normal circumstances you will receive a user-id
and password within minutes of registering. Please note
your ID and password as you will be able to use them time
and again.
The EUR-Lex search facility permits two types of searches:
-
A full text search allowing the use of key words or
phrases
- A
search by document using specific document numbers from
the pages of the official journal, Decision, Directive
or regulation number, COM series number etc.
It should be noted that a web browser capable of using tables
should be used such as Netscape Navigator Microsoft Internet
Explorer version 2.0 or above.
