Newsgathering OIEL
A specific OIEL developed relatively recently is the licence which allows news-gathering and humanitarian aid organisations to export military helmets and body armour to areas of conflict for personal protection of their staff. It has been in use for sometime but recent revisions allow such organisations to deploy a broader range of controlled equipment.

Global Project Licence
The Global Project Licence (GPL) is very similar to the Open Individual Export Licence (OIEL) and simplifies the arrangements for licensing military goods and technologies between countries who are partners in Framework Agreement (FA) and who are participating in collaborative defence projects. The countries concerned are the UK, France, Italy, Sweden, Spain and Germany. GPLs Application forms are available via the Helpline email eco.help@dti.gsi.gov.uk.
Radioactive Sources
The Department of Trade and Industry will introduce an Order under the Export Control Act 2002 in October 2006 to control exports of certain high-activity radioactive sources as defined under the International Atomic Energy Agency Code of Conduct on the Safety and Security of Radioactive Sources.
To reflect the coming change ECO is producing new forms for exporters to apply for Open Individual and Standard Individual export licences.
