Stonewall

Stonewall will be producing an Employer’s Guide to the new Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2003 which includes a best practice toolkit based on the practical experiences of work done through Stonewall's Diversity Champions scheme. The scheme has more than 60 members who between them employ almost 2.7 million people, 10 per cent of the UK workforce.  The Guide, also supported by Barclays, will be available in print and downloadable format and should be available from February. Dissemination is being targeted at SMEs as well as larger organisations where diversity may already be on the agenda.

In mid-February Stonewall will be publishing guidelines for employees. Pocket-sized and 8 pages, these are very straightforward and intended to raise awareness of the new legislation among LGB people. With media partnerships and a postcard version, around 200,000 will be produced altogether. It is intended to reach not just the 'usual' markets but LGB people beyond as well and will be available in hard copy and downloadable formats.

On March 24, Stonewall will be hosting a best practice conference at the QE2 Centre in London to mark the introduction of the regulations. Keynote speakers will include Patricia Hewitt, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, Will Hutton, Chief Executive of the Work Foundation and Chris Lendrum, Vice Chairman of Barclays, as well as best practice champions from both the public and private sectors.

Information on all of the above available from employmentteam@stonewall.org.uk
