TUC

The project is aiming to build the new areas of employment equality law into TUC education work. This involves producing new training materials and courses and updating existing programmes, as well as holding regional briefings for union officers and employers in three pilot areas. The main objectives of the project are to:

  • Design a two day discrimination law update course for union representatives
  • Revise existing union representative core programme to bring into line with new sexual orientation and religion or belief legislation
  • Brief TUC tutors so they may deliver the new training programme
  • Train 300 workplace union representatives
  • Provide the training to reach potentially 1500 union representatives on the TUC union representatives’ training programme
  • Produce publicity material for the training and disseminate throughout the affiliated unions and TUC regions across GB
  • Provide briefings for union officers and employers in three pilot regions, London, Scotland and Wales in co-operation with the STUC, TUC Wales and Acas

A project officer, Mary Myles, has been appointed and a steering group has been set up which consists of representatives of key affiliated unions.

For more information on the project contact Mary Myles.
