Public Consultation on Proposed Revised EAT Rules of Procedure

 

This consultation document seeks views on proposed amendments to the Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) rules[1].  

The proposed amendments are designed to serve two purposes: first, to ensure consistency with proposed new Employment Tribunal Regulations and Rules, on which public consultation has recently been concluded; and, secondly, to effect some relatively minor but worthwhile improvements in procedure, including as regards the disposal of meritless appeals at the outset. 

The intention is that the amending order should be placed before Parliament in the Summer of 2004, to come into effect on 1 October 2004.
