International Energy Agency (IEA)

The International Energy Agency is the energy adviser for 26 countries of the OECD.   Its research, analysis and publications help to inform the development of policy on reliable, affordable and clean energy In 2005-6, its governing board was chaired by Joan MacNaughton, then Director General of Energy at the DTI.

During this period:

  • the IEA was invited to attend the G8 summit in 2005, and to make an active contribution in taking forward the work of the Gleneagles G8 dialogue
  • the Agency oversaw an effective Oil Stock release in the wake of the US hurricanes
  • the Governing Board agreed

We continue to work closely with the IEA and its members across the full range of its responsibilities.
