Welcome to the Nuclear sector of the DTI’s Energy Group web site. The site has been developed as a source of general background information about the
civil nuclear industry in the UK and the issues for which DTI is responsible.
The site includes information about nuclear power, the history and development of the nuclear industry in the UK,
nuclear power generation technologies, and the regulatory framework within which the
industry operates. As will be seen from the site the DTI's role is a varied one, encompassing industry ownership and supervision, regulatory activities to protect the public and international safety and technical assistance to
the former Soviet Union and Eastern European countries.
While the site will be up-dated on a regular basis, it should not be seen as a source of up to the minute information on every issue. Contacts are given
for each topic area to help ensure that any queries you have are directed to
the right person within DTI. The site
includes links to lengthier documents as well as the web sites of related
organisations where appropriate. The DTI is not responsible for the content or accuracy of material on non-DTI sites.
