The Energy Services Working Group

As envisaged in the Energy White Paper, DTI set up an Energy Services Working Group (ESWG) together with Ofgem and Defra to explore how to create an effective market for energy services in the domestic sector.

To meet its commitment, the Energy Services Working Group was established. It explored issues it considered relevant to the establishment of energy services in the UK including:

  • Possible adaptation of the 28-day notice period to encourage Energy Service provision consistent with maintaining adequate freedom of choice and consumer protection
  • The extent of other major barriers to the uptake of Energy Services by households and how these might be overcome
