Employers' Top 10 Questions

From April 6 2003, mothers and fathers of children aged under 6, or disabled children under 18, have the right to apply for a flexible working pattern. Employers have a legal duty to consider their requests seriously. From 6 April 2007 the law will extend the right to request flexible working to carers of adults.

Employers and employees calling Acas, the independent employment relations service, for advice via their helpline (08457 47 47 47) have asked the following questions about the new law.
