Public Consultation On Commission Proposal For A Directive On The Working Conditions Of Temporary (Agency) Workers
The European Commission published proposals in March 2002 for a framework which would improve the quality of temporary agency work (TAW) by requiring that temporary agency workers be treated no less favourably than comparable permanent workers in the user enterprise to which the temporary worker is assigned. The Government consultation, 2002, gave interested parties an opportunity to comment on the Commission proposal. The Directive has not yet been agreed. The UK government supports the underlying principles of the Directive and wants to work constructively to find a solution which is acceptable to all Member States.
