Employment Relations
Employment Market Analysis and Research (EMAR) is a multidisciplinary team of economists, social researchers and statisticians based in the Employment Relations Directorate of DTI.

Our role is to provide the evidence base for good policy making in employment relations, labour market and equality and discrimination at work. We do this through:

·        Conducting periodic socio-economic benchmark surveys

·        Commissioning external research projects and reports

·        Conducting in-house research and analysis

·        Assessing the regulatory impact of new employment laws and programmes

·        Monitoring and evaluating of the impact of government policies

The DTI Employment Relations Research Series and other EMAR publications may be downloaded from the Employment Relations area.

Women and Equality

The Women and Equality site contains high quality and reliable research making a vital contribution to achieving the aims of the Women and Equality Unit and to improving Government policies for women.

Energy and Environment

The Energy and Environment Research Programme seeks to inform the DTI's position regarding proposed energy and environmental policies, in particular by assessing their potential impact on industry. Project reports, including for those projects which contributed towards the analysis for the Energy White Paper (published in February 2003) can be downloaded or ordered through the Programme's homepage.
