DTI Economics

Welcome to the DTI Economics website.

Economics plays a key role in policymaking in DTI. Economists advise on a range of policy issues, from productivity and competitiveness, through to regional development and evaluation and energy.

DTI has one of the largest groups of economists in Government, and is able to offer career opportunities in a wide range of areas. More information about economics careers in Government is available from the Government Economic Service website.

Following the reviews of the DTI in Autumn 2001, the Department emphasised the need to put analysis at the heart of policy-making. As part of this process we have decided to make our analysis and evidence base more publicly available through the publication of a series of DTI Economics Papers that will set out the thinking underpinning policy development. In the next few months the Department will be publishing further DTI Economics Papers.

Current papers can be downloaded from this site.
