UK Chemicals Regulatory Atlas

WASTE DISPOSAL

Map G provides a guide to the framework within which waste disposal by the chemical industry is regulated. The path through Map G is dictated by a consideration of the properties of a waste.

It is the responsibility of a waste producer to be fully aware of the properties of a waste in order to establish its regulatory status. A thorough understanding of the substances and processes involved in producing a waste, a mass balance of wastes and emissions and specialist chemical knowledge may provide sufficient information. However, further specific characterisation may be required to determine composition and quantify hazardous properties.
