UK Chemicals Regulatory Atlas

HELP

The UK Chemicals Regulatory Atlas is intended to help you! Compliance with chemicals regulations can be complex. This Atlas provides an overview of how the main regulations fit together, and indicates probable routes through the regulations, depending upon what you need to achieve. Its purpose is simply stated:

helping the achievement of REGULATORY COMPLIANCE in the most effective way

The idea of an 'Atlas', comprising of progressively more detailed Maps, is to provide structure and guidance. It points the way forward without advising on every detail. From time to time we use the language of maps and routes, to help convey the information.

The Maps are flow charts which provide an overview of a topic, and suggest a sequence of how to deal with the regulations. They have supporting text in 'Text Boxes'. Each box either signposts you to help or more detailed guidance, which will either be in the form of a text box or a lower level Map. For example, Map A refers to Map A.3 (compliance with CHIP) and Map A.3 refers to Text Box A.3.6 (labels).

The Text Boxes are short summaries, which are expanded in Annexes at the end of each Map section.

Decision points are shown clearly, and help on these decisions is given in the form of Guides. The Guides are numbered in sequence within each Map.

Some references are given in bold italics and listed in the references and further information section.

The organisation of the Atlas is modular. Any of the subject areas are possible starting points.
