CONSUMER CREDIT ACT 1974

APPEAL TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE FROM A DECISION OF THE OFFICE OF FAIR TRADING

The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry received an appeal from Rawle Peter Lumsden, of Limpsfield Avenue, Thornton Heath, Surrey against a decision of the Office of Fair Trading to refuse his application for a standard consumer credit licence issued under the Consumer Credit Act 1974. A public hearing of the appeal took place in London on 28 July 2005 before a panel of persons appointed by the Secretary of State to hear the appeal on his behalf. The panel made a report to the Secretary of State. Notice is now given that, on 23 September 2005, the Secretary of State, having considered the panel’s report and accepted its recommendations, decided to dismiss the appeal.

Consumer Credit Act 1974

Appeals to the Secretary of State from determinations of the Office of Fair Trading

Mr Nigel Vescey Bowen trading as NB Cars of North Road, Porth, Mid-Glamorgan appealed against a determination of the Office of Fair Trading to revoke his standard consumer credit licence. N.B. Cars (Wales) Limited, registered at the above address, First Choice Cars (Cardiff) Limited and Heritage Park Motors Limited, both registered at 3 Buttrills Close, Barry, South Glamorgan, appealed against determinations of the Office of Fair Trading refusing their applications for a licence. A public hearing of these appeals took place in Cardiff on 11 and 12 May 2005 before a panel of persons appointed by the Secretary of State to hear the appeals on his behalf. The panel made a report to the Secretary of State. Notice is now given that, on 22 September 2005, the Secretary of State, having considered the panel’s report and accepted its recommendations, decided to dismiss the appeals. Accordingly, the Secretary of State directed that the consumer credit licence of Mr Nigel Vescey Bowen be revoked and that the applications for a licence made by N.B. Cars (Wales) Ltd, First Choice Cars (Cardiff) Limited and Heritage Park Motors Limited, be refused.

CONSUMER CREDIT ACT 1974

 

APPEAL TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE FROM A DECISION OF THE OFFICE OF FAIR TRADING

The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry received an appeal from TA Car Sales Limited of Higher Road, Urmston, Manchester against a decision of the Office of Fair Trading refusing the company’s application for a standard licence under the Consumer Credit Act 1974. A public hearing of the appeal took place in Leeds on 29 June 2005 before a panel of persons appointed by the Secretary of State to hear the appeal on his behalf. The panel made a report to the Secretary of State. Notice is now given that, on 24 August 2005, the Secretary of State, having considered the panel’s report and accepted its recommendations, decided to allow the appeal and accordingly directed that TA Car Sales Limited be granted a standard consumer credit licence.
