EVALUATION IN THE DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY

Background

DTI has a well-established system of evaluation where activities to be evaluated are identified on an annual basis. The bulk of evaluation work is conducted by external contractors, although the Department does have some dedicated evaluation staff.

The Department's evaluation programme is co-ordinated by the Strategy Unit's Performance and Evaluation Team. The team helps ensure that robust evidence is gathered to measure the effects of the department's activities. This evidence is fed to the DTI Performance Committee which overseas performance measurement in the Department and to senior administrators to inform future strategy.

Economists and researchers working directly in the area concerned manage evaluations of other parts of the DTI. The Science and Technology programmes and Employment Relations Directorate also have their own dedicated websites; please use the following links to visit them.
