Complaints

Anyone not satisfied with the response to their request may seek a review by writing to the responding official.

The Department's target for a substantive response to a complaint is 20 working days unless the matter is complex, in which case it may take longer. Complainants will be notified of the target date for a response to their complaint and will be kept informed if any delays appear likely. The review will normally be conducted by the relevant Director General.

Anyone who remains unsatisfied with the outcome of a review may apply to the Information Commissioner, who enforces and oversees the Freedom of Information Act.
