Freedom of Information - Publication Scheme - Introduction

Freedom of Information logo

This is the Department’s publication scheme, drawn up under Section 19 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

The purpose of this publication scheme is to set out:

  • Classes of information we commit to publish as a matter of course
  • How this information will be published
  • Whether the information is available free of charge or on payment.

The Publication Scheme has been designed to help you find out how we carry out the purpose and aims of the Department.

In summary, these are to lead work to create the conditions for business success through competitive and flexible markets that create value for businesses, consumers and employees; and to work across Government and the regions to raise levels of productivity.

To achieve this purpose, we aim to:

  • Promote enterprise and increased productivity.
  • Develop strong, competitive markets within a regulatory framework which promotes fairness and sustainability.
  • Enhance competitiveness of Britain's companies through overseas sales and investments; and a continuing high level of quality foreign direct investment.
  • Promote better regulation across the business, public and third sectors.

Our scheme is available in hard copy from the Publications website or Orderline.
